Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers discovered the lifeless bodies of dozens of babies, some beheaded, in a city that was previously attacked by Hamas militants.

Israeli military forces discovered the bodies of at least 40 babies, some beheaded, in a village previously attacked by Hamas militants.

The latest development shows the unspeakable horrors an Israeli community faced in light of the recent conflict. Local news reports said that Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers moved into the area, Kfar Aza, one of the communities attacked by Hamas terrorists on Saturday, and found the bodies of the deceased babies.

The IDF was working on removing the bodies of victims found in the area when they discovered the children's remains. Later, Israeli military soldiers tried using the bones to identify the victims.

In a statement, IDF Maj. Gen. Itai Veruv said that this was not war, nor a battlefield and called it a massacre. He said that there were babies, mothers, and fathers inside their bedrooms and protection rooms, and they were killed by terrorists, as per Fox News.

Hamas-led militants poured over the Israel-Gaza border on Saturday morning while residents slept. They allegedly dragged people into the streets, taking some hostage while beheading and killing others.

Over 700 Israelis, including men, women, children, and the elderly, were indiscriminately killed in only one day. It was the largest terror attack in a single day in the history of Israel. After the assault, the Israeli army allowed media members into Kibbutz Kfar Aza, less than a quarter of a mile from the Gaza border.

Residents in the city were murdered, and their lifeless bodies were left to litter the streets. Vehicles could be seen burned, and the devastation of the latest attack extended to buildings, some abandoned and destroyed.

The media crews that surveyed Kfar Aza on Tuesday came as explosions and artillery fire could be heard in the background. They wore helmets and flak jackets while picking through the devastated city. According to the Times of Israel, they were protected by at least a company of IDF soldiers who wore full combat gear as they continued to clear the inside of the homes in the area.

Reporters at the scene spoke of the foul odor of death lingering in the air because of all the dead bodies lying around. Veruv added that the situation in Kfar Aza was something that he had never seen in his entire life. He said that it was something that he used to imagine of his grandmother and grandfather when they were in Europe and other places.

The situation comes as Hamas militants took many people hostage, including a three-generation family living in a southern Israeli kibbutz. They are feared to have been taken by the terrorists. Yossi Sneider expressed his horror after recognizing his cousin and her two young children surrounded by Hamas militants in a video.

On Saturday, he tried to contact his family at around 6:00 a.m. to ensure they were safe, but they did not answer. A few hours later, he saw a picture of his cousin, Shiri Bib, and her two children, four-year-old Ariel and nine-month-old Kfir, said BBC.
