U.S. President Joe Biden is now urged by lawmakers to act against pro-Hamas protests that are happening across numerous college campuses.
To show that they are serious with their request, over 40 U.S. lawmakers signed a letter, which is addressed to U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.
Joe Biden Urged to Act Against Pro-Hamas Protests in Colleges
According to Fox News' latest report, dozens of lawmakers are calling the Department of Education of POTUS to take action to prevent pro-Hamas rallies by student groups.
As student Hamas supporters conduct their protests to share how they favor the Palestinian militant group, U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg decided to author a letter.
He signed it together with 43 other lawmakers on Thursday, Oct. 12. This letter urges Miguel Cardona to take safety measures against pro-Hamas students so that the safety of Jewish students across the United States will be ensured.
"Many student groups have issued statements condoning and even celebrating the terror attack, which should be considered a modern-day pogrom," said Walberg in his letter.
"Some student groups have even utilized imagery of a paraglider to advertise their rallies, unequivocally celebrating the despicable tactics used by Hamas," added the letter.
Walberg and other lawmakers explained that Hamas is a terrorist group, which President Joe Biden described as a militant organization with the purpose of killing Jews.
Aside from the Biden Admin and the U.S. Secretary of Education, the letter also calls on self-described "inclusive and tolerant" universities which commonly speak about social issues, but can't utter a word during the Israel-Hamas war.
Walberg criticized these schools, saying that they are quick when it comes to making judgments on social issues, however, they suddenly become quiet about the anti-Semitism crisis happening within their campuses.

More US Students Join Pro-Hamas, Pro-Israel Rallies
As of writing, many American students are joining pro-Hamas and pro-Israel protests that are happening within their universities.
Reuters reported that amid the worsening conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, tensions among students also intensified as protests supporting Hamas and Israel happened in some U.S. colleges.
Reports stated that pro-Hamas students are prompting outrage and fear among Jewish students. David Hidary, a physics major student who attended the Columbia protest (his an Israel supporter), said that Jewish students are currently afraid.
Right now, American students are not the only ones divided by the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Adult U.S. residents and other people across the world are trying to weigh who they should support, Israelis or Palestinians.
But, one thing is for sure. The war doesn't benefit innocent Israelis and Palestinians since they are just civilians caught up in a violent conflict between the Hamas group and the Israeli government.
