A dog swallowed money worth $4,000, leaving owners no choice but to launder money, literally. The pet that ate the cash was a Goldendoodle; a crossbreed between a Golde Retriever and a Poodle.
The American couple in the United States said that the incident happened in December 2023 in Pennsylvania. For fur parents, this scenario is no longer new, especially with dogs.
Unlike cats, dogs are more playful pets; chewing, biting, and even eating anything that attracts their attention. But, remember, this doesn't make your dog a bad one because they are unaware of the consequences.
If you are a dog lover, here's what happened to the cute Goldendoodle named Cecil after eating $4,000.
Bad Dog? Goldendoodle Swallows $4000!
Cecil had never done anything bad in his life, said Carrie Law, the dog's owner. This is why she and her husband, Clayton Law, were surprised when they discovered that Cecil had eaten their money.
"This is Cecil. He has never done anything bad in his life until he ate $4,000," said Carrie via The Straits Times.
The couple said that in December, they withdrew from their savings account. When they got home, they decided to temporarily place the money on their kitchen counter.
But, when they left the kitchen, Cecil decided to eat the cash on the counter. And she did it in less than an hour. Carrie Law said that they almost had a heart attack after knowing that Cecil had eaten their money.
She said that her husband was the first one to panic since he was the first to discover their beloved dog's expensive snack.
"Suddenly Clayton yelled to me, 'Cecil's eating $4,000!' I thought, 'I cannot be hearing that.' I almost had a heart attack," said Mrs. Clayton via The Independent UK.
They immediately took action and contacted their vet. But, the animal doctor said that Cecil no longer needs to be taken to the veterinarian because he can be monitored at their house due to her size.
Goldendoodle Owners Launder Money, Literally
Since the incident already happened, Clayton and Carrie had no other option by to launder their money, literally. They faced the grim task of piecing and cleaning together the remains of their money, which was digested by Cecil.
Luckily, their bank reassured them that they could bring their damaged bills since they could be replaced. But, it is only possible if the serial numbers are visible.
The bank explained that pets swallowing money are not a rare thing and that they already encountered similar incidents in the past. Cecil's loving owners managed to recover most of their cash.
However, they still lost $450. Despite what happened, Carrie and Clayton have already forgiven their Goldendoodle, saying that he is a very fancy fellow with a very expensive taste.
