U.S. President Joe Biden is now being urged by ex-White House interns to support the needed Gaza ceasefire. They called out the American leader after the United States solely vetoed a resolution offered by the United Nations to achieve a truce in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Former interns of the White House sent an open letter to Joe Biden to desperately appeal to his administration to support an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian city, which is still being bombarded by the Israel Defense Forces.
Here's what former White House interns-from batches 2023 and 2022-said to U.S. President Joe Biden and his administration.
Joe Biden Urged by Ex-White House Interns to Support Gaza Ceasefire
According to The Guardian's latest report, the open letter sent to Joe Biden was signed by ex-White Hosue interns, as well as those who worked for the executive office of the president, during 2022 and the summer of 2023.
They claimed that Joe Biden broke his promise to achieve justice and equality by allowing Israel to continue its military operations in the Gaza Strip.
"Consistently, you call upon young people to lead through the world's most pressing challenges," said the former interns.
"Yet our voices are ignored as our generation speaks in solidarity with the majority of Americans and the world," they added.
The interns closed by remarking that this underscored, "...the contrast between the values we embraced together and the actions we now witness".
Ex-White House interns explained that ignoring them underscores the difference between the actions Americans are witnessing and the values they embrace together.
Their open letter was sent to Joe Biden as the Gaza Strip continues to plunge into catastrophe as IDF conducts its bombardments and other military activities.
As of writing, more than 22,000 Palestinians already died in the city ever since Israel declared war against the Hamas terrorists because of their deadly attack in October 2023.
Most of the Palestinian victims of the Israel-Hamas war are children and women, as confirmed by the Gazan health ministry. Aside from deaths, UN leaders previously warned that over 50% of the over 2 million Gazan residents are already at risk of starvation.

US Solely Vetoes UN's Gaza Ceasefire Resolution
In December 2023, the UN Security Council conducted an emergency meeting to offer a resolution for the needed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Time Magazine reported that among the 15 members of the United Nations, 13 of them voted in favor of the truce resolution. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom decided to abstain from voting.
Surprisingly, the United States was the only one that vetoed the resolution, sparking criticisms from other UN leaders. The Doctors Without Borders, an aid organization, led renewed criticism against the U.S.
"The United States has once again voted to allow the carnage against civilians in Gaza to continue," said Avril Benoit, the executive director of DWB.
"The U.S. is increasingly isolated in its steadfast support of a war that seems to have no rules and no limits," added the DWB leader.
