Mexican singer and actor Adan Canto best known for his roles in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' 'Agent Game,' and the TV series 'The Cleaning Lady,' died at 42.
Canto, born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, and raised in Texas, began his singer-songwriter career at 16 when he left his hometown.
Adan Canto Dies at 42
Publicist Jennifer Allen told The Associated Press that Adan Canto died due to appendiceal cancer and chose to keep his diagnosis private. Allen said Canto had a depth of spirit that only a few truly knew and were forever changed. She added that many people will surely miss him.
The Independent said that Canto had a broad smile and laughed loudly. According to his friends, he possessed humility and sensitivity that contrasted with the bulk and square jaw of a movie star. Kiefer Sutherland, who starred alongside Canto on 'Designated Survivor,' posted on his Instagram to pay tribute to Canto.
"It seems lately I have had to make too many posts like this one, but I am heartbroken by the loss of Adan Canto. He was such a wonderful spirit," Sutherland wrote in an uploaded photo of them on set. He noted he was impressed by Canto as an actor who constantly desired to do well.
Furthermore, Sutherland also extended his concern to Canto's family and said he was heartbroken for his wife and his two young children. Canto was married to Stephanie Ann Canto and they had two children, Roman Alder and Eve Josephine.
"Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon," Steph wrote on her Instagram account.

Who is Adan Canto?
Canto started pursuing acting and made his TV debut in 2009 on the Mexican series 'Estado de Gracia.' In 2013, his American debut appeared on the Fox drama series 'The Following,' which starred Kevin Bacon and was produced by Kevin Williamson.
He appeared on several TV shows and films. Some of his notable roles include Vice President-elect Aaron Shore on 'Designated Survivor,' Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla on 'Narcos,' and the mutant Sunspot in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.'
According to AP News, he also starred in Halle Berry's directorial debut, 'Bruised,' as well as 'Agent Game.' In 2014, he directed his first short film, and in 2020, he produced his second film, a daring western starring Theo Rossi.
At the time of his passing, Canto was filming the third season of Fox's 'The Cleaning Lady,' in which he portrayed Armand Morales. His illness prevented him from participating in the production, but he hoped to return later in the season. Canto's role in the series is to recruit a mother into his criminal organization as a cleaner after she witnesses a brutal murder.
