Publicist Jennifer Allen told The Associated Press that Adan Canto died due to appendiceal cancer and chose to keep his diagnosis private. Allen said Canto had a depth of spirit that only a few truly knew and were forever changed. She added that many people will surely miss him.

The Independent said that Canto had a broad smile and laughed loudly. According to his friends, he possessed humility and sensitivity that contrasted with the bulk and square jaw of a movie star. Kiefer Sutherland, who starred alongside Canto on 'Designated Survivor,' posted on his Instagram to pay tribute to Canto.

"It seems lately I have had to make too many posts like this one, but I am heartbroken by the loss of Adan Canto. He was such a wonderful spirit," Sutherland wrote in an uploaded photo of them on set. He noted he was impressed by Canto as an actor who constantly desired to do well.

Furthermore, Sutherland also extended his concern to Canto's family and said he was heartbroken for his wife and his two young children. Canto was married to Stephanie Ann Canto and they had two children, Roman Alder and Eve Josephine.

"Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon," Steph wrote on her Instagram account.
