The New York Times' controversial article about Taylor Swift sparked backlashes as the piece claims that the singer is queer. This is not the first time that Tay Tay has faced rumors about her sexuality.
In the past years, some people also speculated about her sexuality, saying that Taylor could be gay, lesbian, etc. But, these allegations were never really proven.
They just made their speculations based on the lyrics that Swift wrote in her songs. This situation also repeated itself after NYT published an op-ed article.
NYT Article About Taylor Swift Being Queer Sparks Backlash
The New York Times published its controversial 5,000-word essay on Jan. 4. The article was written and published by Anna Marks, one of the editors of the NYT Opinion.
According to The Guardian's latest report, Taylor Swift's associates (or who they call her "invisible team") criticized the article. They shared their sides to clarify that the singer isn't a part of the LGTBQ community.
"Because of her massive success, in this moment there is a Taylor-shaped hole in people's ethics," said the celebrity's invisible team.
"This article wouldn't have been allowed to be written about Shawn Mendes or any male artist whose sexuality has been questioned by fans," they added.
They bashed who wrote the op-ed article, saying that some journalists and other media personnel no longer have boundaries when writing invasive, inappropriate, and untrue stories about the songwriter.

What NYT's Controversial Taylor Article Claims
US singer-songwriter Taylor Swift performs onstage on the first night of her "Eras Tour" at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on March 31, 2023.
The controversial New York Times article about Taylor Swift's sexuality highlighted a long list of LGBTQ references that the singer allegedly put into her performances and songs.
Anna Marks argued that based on her lyrics and performances, the American celebrity has been trying to signal that she identifies with the queer community.
"In isolation, a single dropped hairpin is perhaps meaningless or accidental, but considered together, they're the unfurling of a ballerina bun after a long performance," said the NYT Opinion editor.
"Those dropped hairpins began to appear in Ms. Swift's artistry long before queer identity was undeniably marketable to mainstream America," she added.
Anna Marks claimed that all these signs suggest that Tay Tay is among the queer people in the LGBTQ community.
However, Taylor Swift already clarified that she isn't a member of the LGBTQ society. Yes, she strongly supports them by standing against anti-gay bills, making her concerts a safe place, etc.
But, in 2019, she confirmed that she isn't one of the LGBTQ people. The singer said that she didn't realize that rights are being stripped from people who aren't cisgender until she started advocating a community she's not a part of.
