King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer. This was confirmed by the Buckingham Palace on Monday, Feb. 5.
The U.K. monarch's administrative headquarters announced this information after the U.K. supreme ruler was hospitalized, together with Princess Kate, for days.
King Charles III underwent a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. Meanwhile, Princess Kate had an abdominal surgery. Now, it turns out that the British monarch is suffering from cancer.
King Charles III Diagnosed With Cancer
According to NBC News, Buckingham Palace didn't confirm the exact type of cancer that King Charles III was diagnosed with.
"During The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted," said the palace.
"Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," it added via an email statement.
Buckingham Palace quickly took action to ensure the health of the British majesty, saying that they already started a schedule of regular treatments.
Officials said that doctors advised the ruler to cancel all public-facing duties while he's undergoing cancer treatments. Buckingham Palace said that King Charles III is still optimistic regarding his cancer treatments, saying that he looks forward to returning to full public duty.
BBC News reported that since he will postpone his public-facing duties, other British senior royals are expected to stand in for him as he undergoes regular treatments.
As of press time, no other details were shared by Buckingham Palace regarding the ruler's cancer stage or a prognosis.

What Will King Charles III Do?
Officials said that King Charles III will still continue his constitutional role as the head of the state. This means that he can still do paperwork and attend private meetings.
The British ruler said that he also wanted to prevent speculations regarding his health by sharing his cancer diagnosis. He is also hoping that the news could raise cancer awareness across the world.
Aside from this, King Charles III also wants to encourage more men to get prostate checks. This is why he decided to go public regarding his prostate treatments.
The health condition of King Charles III highlights the increasing number of cancer cases among older people in the United Kingdom. Statistics showed that each year, around 36% of new cancer cases were in people 75 years old and older.
