Disney CEO Bob Iger finally announced the "Moana 2" release date! This will certainly excite many fans since it's been seven years since the first movie was released in theaters.
Now, the Moana is being called once again by the "line where the sky meets the sea." This was confirmed by Bob Iger on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
He shared details about the Disney sequel ahead of the first quarter earnings report of the Walt Disney Company. If you're one of the excited fans, here's everything you need to know.
'Moana 2' Release Date Confirmed by Disney!
Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the new "Moana 2" will have a surprise theatrical release on Nov. 27.
"Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can't wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when 'Moana 2' comes to theaters this November," said the official via NBC News.
The sequel to the successful Disney movie is not really surprising since it generated over $680 million at the box office when it hit the theaters.
After that, "Moana" became even more popular after being released on Disney+; being streamed on the platform for over 1 billion hours in 2023 alone.
The announcement of "Moana 2" comes after recent Disney films flopped. These include "Wish," "Indiana Jones and the Dial Destiny," "The Marvels," as well as Pixar's "Elemental," as reported by Variety.
To clarify things, "Moana 2" is a separate movie from Disney's live-action remake of the film. In this live-action movie, Dwayne Jackson is still the tattooed demigod Maui.
However, Moana's voice actor Auli'i Cravalho decided not to participate in the live-action movie. Although this is the case, she reprises her role in the upcoming animated sequel (Yey!).

What To Know About 'Moana 2'
Iger shared that their original plan was to make a TV series for "Moana." However, they end up producing a second film.
Based on Disney's statements, "Moana 2" will take fans on a whole new adventure with Maui, Moana, and a new crew of "unlikely seafarers."
Moana and her friends will venture to the far seas of Oceania and into long-lost waters; facing a dangerous adventure she never faced before.
The sequel is expected to offer a new exciting experience that fans can really enjoy, especially since it will be directed by Dave Derrick Jr., the director behind other popular Disney movies, such as "The Lion King."
