The new Apple Vision Pro could soon become a serious road hazard. As of writing, numerous videos show drivers wearing the new AR headset while driving.
Their careless actions spark concerns among citizens and government officials. After seeing what they did, some individuals question if these Apple Vision Pro owners have common sense or if it's not common for them to have one.
If you're among those who are interested in buying this new mixed-reality gadget or one of those who are concerned about it, here's what the U.S. government and experts say about it.
Apple Vision Pro Could Become Road Hazard
According to Inquirer.Net, numerous videos of drivers wearing the Apple Vision Pro are circulating on Facebook, X, and other social media platforms.
They even attracted the attention of U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, who shared a video of a Tesla Cybertruck owner wearing an Apple Vision Pro while on the road.
"Reminder-ALL advanced driver assistance systems available today require the human driver to be in control and fully engaged in the driving task at all times," he said via his official X post.
Many Americans shared their comments after seeing the footage. One of them said that what the driver did was reckless, especially since the Tesla Cybertruck doesn't have an active driving assistance system yet.
"The crazy part is that Cybertruck doesn't have Autopilot yet. So the driver was driving without any ADAS," said another netizen.
Because of the Tesla Cybertruck owner and other reckless drivers who use the new mixed-reality headset while driving, many experts believe that the Apple Vision Pro could soon become the next road hazard.
Will Apple Vision Pro Become Like iPhone in Road Safety?
Although not using the Apple Vision Pro while driving should already be common sense, Apple still provided a warning to users.
Via its official website, the gadget maker said that the AR headset should not be used while running, operating a moving vehicle, or intoxicated/impaired.
However, because of people's curiosity, they are still doing it despite all these warnings. Due to their behavior, experts said that the Apple Vision Pro and other similar VR headsets could become like iPhones when it comes to road safety.
Right now, many drivers are still using their iPhones while driving; increasing the risk of accidents. This could become the same situation with Apple Vision Pro sooner or later.
