Samsung's New Software Update for Galaxy S24 Addresses Display, Camera Issues

New update for Galaxy S24 series will fix various camera and display issues.

Samsung's latest software update for its Galaxy S24 will work to address various display and camera issues that users have been experiencing.

The update will arrive later this month and follows user complaints on the base, Ultra, and Plus models of the Galaxy S24. The fix will provide more display setting options along with upgrades to various camera functions, such as zooming, portrait, and night shooting modes.

The fix will come to the affected models starting on Feb. 22 and will allow users to adjust the display's vividness level using a slider located under the display settings. This particular addition is important, considering users have complained about the current vivid setting looking too washed-out.

One user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, who goes by the alias Ice Universe, saying that the tech giant was already working on the fix. Furthermore, Samsung is also making some changes to camera shooting styles as well as video recording with the rear camera system, as per CNET.

However, the company has not yet specified what those updates will include, but it does follow complaints that have appeared online about the S24 Ultra's zooming capabilities. One user on X, S M A Sithick posted about an issue when shifting from 1x to 5x zoom. He also called portraits "grainy."

The tech giant did not cite these gripes specifically but noted in a blog post that the changes are "based on your feedback." Other than the camera and display updates, the new software is also expected to bring improved language recognition and accuracy.

This is particularly important because the Galaxy S24's new language translation tool is part of Galaxy AI and is among its headlining new features. The tech giant is not the only major company to face complaints regarding a major smartphone launch, the others being Apple and Google.

Fixing a Variety of Issues

The complaints suggested that Samsung will be able to fix the issues by tweaking the way the devices' camera switches between its multiple lenses and merges their output when zooming in and out, according to Forbes.

If the new software works as intended, users who own Galaxy S24 Ultra devices will be able to see improved picture quality in a variety of shooting scenarios. The Galaxy S series has long been known for its industry-leading camera experience.

The company said that the new update, based on user feedback, was something that they did as they aim to provide enhanced options and experiences across the device display and camera. This is enabled by the tech giant's advanced hardware and software integration efforts.

Prior to the new fix in response to the variety of issues, the S24 devices' screen and camera already showed relative improvements to previous models, including foreground blur in portrait mode. The tech giant said that it would also be rolling out features for live translation.

Samsung's Galaxy S24 is one of the first mobile devices to include live call translations with the help of Galaxy AI. Without providing any details, the company said that it will continue to evolve Galaxy technology, said The Verge.
