Caitlin Clark is now the new NCAA Division I leading scorer in women's and men's basketball. This means that she broke the record of Pete Maravich, an NBA five-time All-Star player who also came from the NCAA.
Pete Maravich's career record while still in the NCAA was 3,667 points. Caitlin Clark beat the last regular-season Division I college basketball match between Iowa Hawkeyes (her team) and Ohio State.
When the game was able to start, she was just 17 points behind Pete Maravich's record. Thanks to her efforts and talent, Caitlin Clark was able to break it.
Caitlin Clark Sets All-Time NCAA Division I Record
According to NPR's latest report, Caitlin Clark broke Pete Maravich's record in the NCAA after reaching 3,668 points. During the interview, the college basketball star said she wasn't aware she had broken the record.
"Not really, but then when they announce it and everybody screams, that's when I knew," said Clark via CNN Sports.
This shows how she was focused from the moment the game began until it ended. She thanked those who supported her and stuck around as she continued her basketball career.
"I'm just very thankful for all these people that are going to stick around and support us and have supported us over the course of my four years," she said.
"It probably won't hit me until a little bit later but just gonna enjoy it with my family and my teammates and just really thankful to be in this place," added the new NCAA Division-I all-time leading scorer.

How Caitlin Clark Broke NCAA's Leading Scorer
Before Caitlin Clark entered the game, she needed 18 points to beat Pete Maravich's record. With her skills and grit, she made all the points she needed.
She even had technical foul free throws. Caitlin Clark made two free throws just before the first half of the game ended, allowing her to break Pete Maravich's NCAA record.
By the game's end, Clark could make 35 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. Because of this, she ended the NCAA Division I women's basketball regular season with an average of 32.2 points per game.
