Buckingham Palace Refutes Russian Media Rumors of King Charles’ Death

'The King is continuing with official and private business'

Buckingham Palace threw cold water Monday on reports out of Russia claiming that King Charles III had died.

Various Russian media outlets ran with a fake announcement doctored to appear from Buckingham Palace, claiming that the king had "passed away unexpectedly."

The palace debunked the claim in a statement to the Russian state-run TASS news agency.

"We are happy to confirm that The King is continuing with official and private business," the statement read.

The British Embassy in Kyiv also took to social media to refute the reports.

"We would like to inform you that the news about the death of King Charles III is fake," the post on X stated.

Some of the Russian news outlets later updated their reports to say the death announcement had been fake.

The king has been undergoing cancer treatment and has suspended his public duties since the announcement was made.

He's not the only royal facing health rumors. Royal watchers have been speculating on the health of Kate Middleton, who has largely out of public view for months.

The princess of Wales underwent planned abdominal surgery nearly two months ago and spent 13 nights at a London hospital while recuperating.
