Missing Mizzou Student Riley Strain Caused 'Commotion' At Encampment Where Bank Card Was Found: Witness

The witness described Strain as "very, very, very intoxicated"

An unhoused man who believes he saw Riley Strain shortly before he disappeared said that the missing Mizzou senior appeared extremely intoxicated and caused a "commotion" inside his encampment, according to a report.

Strain, 22, was visiting Nashville with other members of his fraternity when he was kicked out of Bryan's Luke's 32 Bridge bar on March 8.

The business and finance major told his fraternity brothers that he planned to go back to their hotel - but surveillance footage indicates that he may have gotten lost, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Surveillance footage shows the visibly intoxicated student walking near the Cumberland River. A married couple who live in a homeless encampment near the river believe they might've spotted Strain shortly before he vanished.

"We heard a commotion," the unnamed husband told WZTV. "We looked back up. He almost fell over. The last bush right there caught him. He was very, very, very intoxicated. I never seen anybody stumble that hard before."

The witness added that he called out to see if the man was alright and someone else responded by saying "he's just drunk. He's okay."

In the ensuing days, Strain's family has descended on Nashville while law enforcement continues to search the area. A dive team searched the river on Saturday but found no conclusive evidence.

Strain is 6-foot-5, 160 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was wearing brown boots, jeans and a black-and-white shirt the evening he disappeared.
