Kaylee Gain Doesn’t Remember Violent Assault That Led to Her Hospitalization: Attorney

Kaylee's parents 'echo the recent public statements demanding that the individual that is in custody in this case is tried as an adult'

Kaylee Gain, the Missouri teen slammed to the ground and beaten unconscious, does not remember the brawl that led to her hospitalization.

In a statement released by Kaylee's family's attorney, Bryan Kaemmerer confirmed earlier reports the 15-year-old was transferred out of the intensive care unit and is beginning to regain verbal communication and ambulatory skills.

Because Kaylee appears to have a prolonged road to recovery ahead of her, her parents "echo the recent public statements demanding that the individual that is in custody in this case is tried as an adult," Kaemmerer stated.

"Given the particularly violent nature of this assault, and also taking into account the devastating injuries that Kaylee has incurred, it is difficult to imagine a more appropriate case for a juvenile to be certified as an adult," he argued while reiterating the family's pleas for the public to refrain from retaliation of any kind toward anyone involved in the incident.

On March 8, Kaylee was savagely beaten by another teen girl near Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis, according to viral video of the fight.

Her head was slammed into the sidewalk several times while she was repeatedly pummeled, the footage shows.

The brutal assault left Kaylee unconscious with potentially life-threatening injuries, including a skull fracture and brain trauma, her family said.

It's unclear what led up to the brawl.

The teen suspect, who has not been publicly identified due to her age, has been charged with assault.
