Cinnamon With Elevated Lead Levels Subject To Ongoing Recall: Report

Cinnamon, that little spice that makes everything nice, is undergoing an urgent recall.

Tasty-Sawa Ground Cinnamon is currently the subject of a voluntary recall due to increased levels of lead detected.

The specific product being recalled is Tasty-Sawa Ground Cinnamon, packaged in bulk in a 55.11-pound paper bag, according to Food Safety News.

Spices USA Inc, which began the recall in March and the recall is still ongoing.

Consumers have been urged by the firm to either get rid of the tainted product or to return it to where they got it.

Lead consumption at any level is unsafe. Individuals exposed to even very low levels of lead for short durations may not display symptoms. However, prolonged exposure to lead in adults may manifest as high blood pressure, headaches, memory or concentration issues, abdominal discomfort, mood disorders, and reproductive issues such as miscarriage or stillbirth.
