The gun supervisor convicted in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by actor Alec Baldwin called the jurors in her case "idiots," "r----ds" and "a--holes" during phone calls from jail, prosecutors revealed ahead of her scheduled Monday sentencing.
The recorded conversations took place after Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and locked up last month for the Oct. 21, 2021, slaying of Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western movie "Rust," according to court papers filed Friday.
During her jailhouse calls, Gutierrez-Reed, 36, "referred to the jurors as 'r----ds,' 'idiots' and 'a--holes,'" prosecutors wrote.
Gutierrez-Reed also said she'd refuse to testify at Baldwin's upcoming trial because he "didn't show up for her" and "stunningly" expressed the desire that Hutchins' husband and son seek leniency for her at her sentencing, according to court papers.
Prosecutors accused Gutierrez-Reed of of an "astonishing lack of diligence" for unknowingly bringing live ammunition onto the set outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, and failing to check what she thought were "dummy" rounds loaded into the production's prop guns.
"This was a game of Russian roulette every time an actor had a gun with dummies," prosecutor Kari Morrissey said during closing arguments.
Gutierrez-Reed faces 18 months in prison but is seeking a conditional discharge that would free her from jail and could lead to her conviction being wiped from her record.
Baldwin, who was movie's lead actor and co-producer, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and is scheduled for trial in July.
The Emmy-winning actor, 66, maintains that he cocked the revolver but didn't pull the trigger before it fired, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
Baldwin is seeking to have the case against him dismissed.
