Donations are pouring in for the 10-year-old Oklahoma boy who awoke to find his family slaughtered in what authorities have blamed on a murder-suicide by the father.
An online appeal to pay for the funerals, as well as expenses for counseling, education and the "general welfare" of the unidentified boy has generated more than $40,000 of a $100,000 goal, according to information posted Saturday on the GoFundMe website.
The flood of cash comprises hundreds of contributions.
"The entire family is at the beginning of long journey, but everyone is focused on one and one thing only ... my Nephew and his future ... thanks to all of you," uncle and organizer Brent Remerowski of Mustang, Oklahoma, wrote Thursday.
The boy, the youngest of Jonathon and Lindsay Candy's four sons, was the sole survivor of a mass shooting in which Jonathon Candy gunned down his wife and their three oldest children — Dylan, 18, Ethan, 14, and Lucas, 12 — before killing himself.
The 10-year-old discovered the "carnage" on Monday morning after Jonathon Candy, 42, got into argument with Lindsay Candy, 39, late Sunday or early Monday in their home in the Czech Hall Estates neighborhood of Oklahoma City, police said Wednesday.
Candy got a gun and shot his wife several times, then "systematically went through the home, shooting and killing the children," police said.
"Make no mistake about it, what happened in that residence was nothing short of a massacre," Oklahoma City police Sgt. Gary Knight said.
There was reportedly no known history of domestic violence in the household, and it's unclear why the youngest son was spared.
The boy's uncle said Lindsay was his sister-in-law's only sibling and that their nephew "needs much support."
