A Maryland man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the brutal dismemberment of his doctor father, prosecutors announced.

Ravi Maganbhai Pansuriya, 31, was also denied the possibility of parole during his sentencing Tuesday for the gruesome murder of his dad, Dr. Maganbhai Pansuriya, according to WMAR-TV.

"Given the horrific, brutal, and premeditated crime that we're talking about in this particular instance, the sentence that was imposed was certainly warranted," Carroll County State's Attorney Haven Shoemaker said, according to the station.

A jury convicted Pansuriya of first-degree murder in November.

In October 2022, the elder Pansuriya was reported missing by his wife after she told police she came home to evidence of a struggle.

Shortly after, a man found parts of the victim's dismembered body wrapped in a rug on a road outside New Windsor, Maryland. Days later, his head and hands were recovered in a nearby creek, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Blood and fingerprint evidence tied his son to the crime.

Investigators discovered Pansuriya driving around with hedge trimmers, branch cutters, and an ax, in the bed of the family's truck.

The medical examiner determined he stabbed his dad 45 times, inflicted nine cut injuries, and caused blunt force trauma to the victim's head.

"The defendant said something along the lines of his father didn't give him enough attention, that's the closest thing to what may or may not have prompted this we have gotten," Shoemaker said, according to WBFF-TV.

Shoemaker said Pansuriya's attorney will likely appeal his sentence.
