A Maryland man living with his mother allegedly murdered her and then left her body in a bathtub in the home they shared, according to police.
The Fruitland Police Department and emergency medical services responded to a residence on Sand Castle Boulevard in Fruitland after a woman was reported to be unconscious shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday. Officers were met by the victim's husband, and EMS personnel found the victim, later identified as 68-year-old Beatrice Kay Gentry, unresponsive in a bathtub. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fruitland police requested assistance from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, which processed the scene for evidence. During the course of investigation, 48-year-old Jeremy Gentry, the victim's son, was identified as a suspect.
Gentry was arrested Monday morning, according to Maryland State Police. He is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
Beatrice Kay Gentry's cause and manner of death were not released, pending autopsy results. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
