The Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C. was on lockdown for a period of time on Wednesday morning after vials of blood were discovered.

They were addressed to former president Donald Trump, according to the Associated Press. It was unclear if any message explained why they were sent.

A hazmat team was sent to the building to investigage.

An "all clear" was issued at about 9:40 a.m. and people were allowed to go in and out of the building again.

"The source of the package & its contents will be further investigated," the Capitol Police said in an X post.

It was unclear if anyone came into contact with the blood.

The RNC headquarters building is across the street from the Cannon House Building, about two blocks from the Capitol building.

There were no reports of injuries and no other information was immediately available.
