An 81-year-old California man has been arrested for allegedly using his slingshot to terrorize his neighbors for nearly a decade, police said.

The Azusa Police Department said they conducted a "lengthy investigation" into a "quality of life issue" in the area of the 900 block of North Enid Avenue, and learned that dozens of residents had been victimized by a "serial slingshot shooter" over the last 9-10 years.

"The unknown suspect broke windows, windshields and almost stuck people with ball bearings," police said.

Last week, detectives executed a search warrant in the neighborhood, at the residence of 81-year-old suspect Prince King. Investigators allegedly found a slingshot and ball bearings at his residence, and King was taken into custody.

Azusa police Lt. Jake Bushey told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that police have not yet discovered a motive "other than just malicious mischief."

Bushey told the outlet that although the shots didn't appear to be random, police did not know why certain properties or people were targeted.

King was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
