Matthew Louis Mollicone, 48, from Michigan, was found guilty of killing his wife during a violent shootout at the home of her lover.

Mollicone was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, assault with intent to murder, and three counts of felony firearm in the death of his wife, Kimberly Ann Mollicone, 49, and the wounding of her former lover, Daniele Giannone.

Set to be sentenced on July 10, Mollicone's conviction on assault with intent to murder carries a maximum penalty of life. He is also facing 15 years for voluntary manslaughter and six years for felony firearms, according to Law & Crime.

"The jury's convictions hold the perpetrator accountable for his actions and bring closure to the loved ones left behind," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido stated.

Details revealed in court show Kimberly Mollicone and Giannone had been involved in a yearslong affair that her husband believed the two had recently restarted.

Mollicone's defense attorneys tried to argue that Giannone should be the one charged with murder since he fired the fatal shot; however, prosecutors argued Mollicone brought his wife into a dangerous situation.

Per Law & Crime's previous report, the killing occurred on July 12, 2022, when Mollicone and his wife drove to the home of Giannone around 9:30 p.m.

Giannone was outside his mom in the 62000 block of North Avenue in Ray Township when the couple arrived.

A verbal argument quickly escalated into a gunfight, with both men firing shots at one another. Giannone was hit in the leg as he retreated back into his home to retrieve a second weapon.

As Morricone and his wife got into their vehicle and began to back out of the driveway, more gunfire was exchanged between the two men, which struck Kimberly Morricone near the neck, resulting in her death.

The incident lasted all of two minutes.

Several of Giannone's family members were "trapped inside the home out of fear," while investigators recovered more than 30 shell casings from three guns.

Giannone testified that he had no idea why Mollicone had been there that day when he rushed him.

"I told him I didn't know what he was there for," he told the court.

"I said, 'Get out or I'll blow your f-head off.'"

The entire scene played out in 911 calls, reporting the exchange of gunfire.

A woman can be heard screaming as multiple gunshots go off in the background.

"My brother's shot! My sister-in-law is in the house with my kids, bunkered down. My father and mother are here!"

Matthew Mollicone also placed a 911 call during the shootout.

In the audio recording, Mollicone is heard telling the dispatcher that a man "came out of his house and shot my wife."

"Send an ambulance now. My wife's been shot. She's unresponsive," he shouted.

In her obituary, Kimberly was said to have played many roles in her family, business, and community, but that her most treasured role was being a mom.
