Actor Who Allegedly Stabbed Makeup Artist and Tried To Flee to Mexico Has Been Charged With Attempted Murder

The actor has been accused of stabbing his makeup artist ex-girlfriend more than 20 times

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday that Nick Pasqual, the 34-year-old actor captured in Texas while attempting to flee to Mexico, has been charged with attempted murder and other felonies for allegedly stabbing his makeup artist ex-girlfriend over 20 times.

Authorities also allege Pasqual "inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim under circumstances involving domestic violence" and that he "personally used a knife during the commission of the crime."

At around 4:30 a.m. on May 23, Pasqual allegedly broke into the Sunland, Calif., home of award-winning makeup artist and special effects producer Allie Shehorn, 35, and stabbed her multiple times. Later that day, the artist known for her work on "Rebel Moon" and "Babylon" was found by her surrogate mother with slashes to her neck, abdomen and arms.

What Happened to Shehorn?

Shehorn was hospitalized with critical injuries, and underwent multiple surgeries. Fellow makeup artist Jed Dornoff set up a GoFundMe for Shehorn, and wrote that she is making "positive steps in her recovery."

"It's still a very long road but she is facing it with courage and determination," Dornoff wrote.

According to the DA's office, she had previously obtained a restraining order against Pasqual, alleging he had attacked her multiple other times.

Pasqual, who has had minor roles in "How I Met Your Mother" and "Rebel Moon," was later detained at the border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, as he tried to flee to Mexico.

What's Next?

Pasqual will be extradited to Los Angeles County to face his charges.

"My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident," District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. "Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her. This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions."

If convicted, Pasqual faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison.
