A newborn recently found abandoned in a shopping bag has a brother and sister who were also previously found in similar circumstances, according to a British police.
A DNA test linked the siblings after a dogwalker in east London discovered the infant in sub-zero temperatures. The results confirmed that the baby girl, named Elsa by hospital staff, is biologically related to a boy and girl who were also abandoned in the same area in 2017 and 2019, the Metropolitan Police reported on Tuesday.
The dogwalker came across the infant wrapped in a towel inside a reusable shopping bag near the junction between the Greenway footpath and High Street South on January 18.
Baby Elsa is believed to have been less than an hour old when she was found in Newham after a passer-by heard her crying.
The child was kept warm until paramedics arrived at the scene. Authorities later stated the baby was safe and well.
Police are seeking to identify a woman seen wearing a large dark coat with a light coloured scarf or hood around her neck and had a rucksack on her back, shortly before Elsa was found.
Her sister, Roman, was found in a play area off Roman Road in late January 2019, also in freezing conditions.
While their brother, Harry, was found wrapped in a blanket in Balaam Street, Plaistow, in September 2017.
The parents have yet to be identified.
A judge at East London Family Court has now ruled that reporting restrictions could be changed to allow the publication of the link between the three children.
Due to the ongoing investigation, Elsa's birth cannot be registered, and the court cannot determine a final decision regarding her care.
