A woman and her 4-year-old daughter were fatally shot in a car on Florida's Turnpike, authorities say.

Members of the Florida Highway Patrol found the woman mortally wounded and her daughter dead inside a vehicle parked in the left hand breakdown lane when they responded to a report of a shooting on the northbound turnpike in Hollywood late Friday.

An unidentified suspect fired at the car shortly after 11 p.m., the Broward County Sheriff's Office said in a release

The mother, identified as Beatrice Saintvil, was rushed to a local hospital where she died. The 4-year-old girl's name was not immediately released.

Santvill ran a hair-braiding business and photos posted on Facebook show her daughter wearing a pink tutu as she prepared for her fifth birthday party in May.

The sheriff's office is investigating and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
