Donald Trump's boast in a speech about his "cognitive" abilities as he denigrated flubs by President Joe Biden didn't go as well as planned when he couldn't remember the name of the former White House doctor who once praised his "good genes" following a physical exam.

"Doc Ronny! Doc Ronny Johnson! Does everyone know Ronny Johnson?" Trump asked the crowd Saturday in a speech at a convention of Turning Point Action in Detroit. .

It's actually Ronny Jackson, former White House doc and current Texas Republican representative, who was in the audience.

Jackson's name almost came up when Trump referred to the doctor who gave him a mental test while he was president. Despite repeatd corrections in the media,Trump seems to think it was some kind of intelligence test that he "aced" by correctly identifying things like a camel, and remembering five words (in Trump's case, "person, woman, man, camera, TV").

Actually, it was a Montreal Cognitive Assessment, designed to detect things like early signs of dementia or other cognitive impairment — not intelligence. Trump has always claimed that his answers blew Dr. Ronny Johnson, er, Jackson, away.

Jackson, a former retired U.S. Navy rear admiral, was demoted to captain in 2022 following a damning Pentagon inspector general's report that determined Jackson berated subordinates in the White House medical unit, "made sexual and denigrating statements" about a female subordinate, consumed alcohol inappropriately subordinates and consumed the sleep drug Ambien while on duty as the president's physician.
