A transgender woman on the run for the alleged double murder of her parents in Utah was captured less than 24 hours after they fled, prompting police to lift a shelter-in-place order.

Mia Bailey, 28, surrendered to officers in St. George, Utah, Wednesday morning, following a brief negotiation, St.George News reported, citing police.

Authorities began searching for Bailey, whose birth name is Collin Troy Bailey, for the fatal shootings of a man and woman at a Washington City, Utah, residence Tuesday evening.

Investigators did not disclose a motive in the slayings.

"Mia wears wigs and is known to change hairstyles frequently," police previously said, describing her as white, 5-foot-10, and 130 lbs.

The Department of Public Safety and the St. George Police Department also aided in the investigation.

"She needs to be found," St. George Police Lt. Tiffany Mitchell previously said in a video shared on Facebook Wednesday morning. "Be vigilant. Don't approach her. Keep your doors locked."

"We understand this is a scary situation," added Mitchell.
