In his first concert since his brush with the law on Long Island Justin Timberlake told cheering fans: "It's been a tough week."

But "you're here and I'm here, and nothing can change this moment right now," Timberlake said Friday night at the United Center in Chicago.

"I know sometimes I'm hard to love but you keep on loving me and I love you right back," he added, revving up the crowd even more.

Timberlake was arrested and charged Tuesday in Sag Harbor with driving while intoxicated.

Police said he was observed "operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition," shortly after midnight after visiting a hotel restaurant and bar.
He allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and maintain his "lane of travel," police said.

The singer refused to take a blood alcohol test three times and insisted to police he "had one martini," according to court records. He was arrested, held til the morning for arraignment and released without bail.

He's scheduled to be back in court in New York July 26 to face the music.

Timberlake is in Chicago for a second night there of the "Forget Tomorrow" world tour. Then it's off to Madison Square Garden in New York.
