Police in Irving, Texas have ended their day-long manhunt, making an arrest after two Chick-fil-A workers were gunned down inside a restaurant.
Oved Bernando Mendoza Argueta, 37, was arrested at 2:50am overnight by Irving police shortly after identifiying him as a suspect. Police say Argueta walked into a Chick-fil-A restaurant located in the 5300 block of N. Mcarthur Boulevard and shot the two employees.
While police have yet to release specific information about a motive, Irving Police Officer Anthony Alexander said that investigators believe this was a "targeted incident" and not a random act of voilence.
An arrest report obtained by KDFW-TV reveals that Argueta's wife is also an employee at the restaurant and witnessed the shooting. She later identified her husband as the gunman. The report does not state if the deceased men knew their alleged killer or if they were the intended targets.
Argueta was booked into Irving County Jail around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.
Chick-fil-A said in a statement to the outlet that "we will miss our two team members dearly. Right now, our focus is on providing care for our team and the victims' families."
