Former NFL player Daniel Muir and his wife were taken into custody more than two weeks after their teenage son vanished.
Forty-year-old Muir, who previously spent four seasons as a defensive tackle for the Indianapolis Colts, was arrested by an Indiana SWAT team at his family's home in Logansport, Indiana, Wednesday. He faces charges of obstruction of justice and domestic battery in connection with the alleged attack and disappearance of his son, 14-year-old Bryson Muir, according to Indiana State Police.
Muir's wife, Kristin Muir, 38, was also arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.
Last month, a missing endangered child alert was issued for Bryson, who was last seen June 16 with his mother leaving a family member's house in Ohio. Shortly after leaving the residence, Kristin was pulled over by police, but the teen was not in the vehicle with her, said police.
Two days later, the Cass County Department of Child Services requested ISP investigate allegations of domestic battery against Bryson, but they were unable to locate the teen and efforts to contact the Muirs were unsuccessful.
Investigators eventually made contact with the couple, who agreed to bring Bryson to the police station. They backed out an hour before the scheduled meeting, "which signaled an unwillingness to cooperate," said police.
Upon his parents' arrests, Bryson was located at the home "safe and well" and released to the Department of Child Services.
