A dispute over Fourth of July fireworks triggered the stabbing of at least four people in a Los Angeles neighborhood just after midnight Friday, according to police.

Witnesses reportedly said a small fight in the street escalated to bottle-throwing, a stabbing and a shootout, according to Key News Network.

It's unclear if anyone was shot, but several people were transported to the hospital with stab wounds.

Their conditions remain unknown.

"It just escalated so quick from something being so nice and beautiful with the fireworks, to something just being so ugly," one witness said, the stringer service reported.

At one point people started lighting fireworks and throwing them at each other.

Police said one person was arrested.
