A Florida man found himself under arrest and charged with robbery after he walked into a Chase Bank on June 29 and filled out an unusual withdrawal slip for a total of one cent.

The bank teller told Michael Fleming, 41, that they could not process his request after receiving the withdrawal slip.

According to an arrest affidavit, Fleming responded to the employee with, "So you want me to say the other word?"

Fearing the situation could escalate into something violent, the teller contacted the police, who arrived shortly thereafter.

Fleming told officers that he tried going to a nearby bank first but found Citizens First Bank closed.

The arrest report states that the suspect told officers that he intended to be arrested.

"Most of the time, the way tellers are trained, if someone comes in to rob you, you give them the money and let them go," Fleming said in a recorded interview, telling investigators he presumed the teller would give him the one cent, after which he would sit in a chair and wait for the police.

Fleming does not hold a bank account with Chase; it's unclear what account information he used to fill out the deposit slip.

He was charged with one count of robbery with no firearm or weapon and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

Per the report, Fleming has "no prior guilty convictions for robbery."
