Donald Trump's campaign said the former president was "fine" after being rushed off the stage with blood on his face at a rally in Butler, after gunshots.
"President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act," spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement reviewed by the Associated Press. "He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow."
Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi issued a statement saying, "The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available."
The Butler County District Attorney says the a person attending the rally was killed and the shooter is dead.
The Secret Service later confirmed that two people were critically injured in the attack.
