The National Police in Nairobi, Kenya, have arrested a suspect for allegedly luring and killing 42 women by strangulation.
The prime suspect in the Mukuru Kwa Njenga murders has been identified as 33-year-old Collins Jumaisi Khalusha.
Khalusha was taken into custody at Soweto in Kayole-Sub County at approximately 3:00 a.m. outside a club in a joint operation organized by the DCI Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and Operations Directorates.
Forensic analysis of a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims helped authorities catch Khalusha due to mobile money transactions conducted on the day she went missing, according to DCI KENYA.
Upon arrest, he led officers to his single-room rented house in Kware, where the bodies and body parts were recovered roughly 100 meters from the home.
Crucial pieces of evidence were seized, including a machete, six ID cards for men and two ID cards for women, a laptop and hard drive, smartphones, SIM cards, female accessories, and other personal items belonging to the victims.
Once brought into interrogation, Khalusha confessed to luring, killing, and disposing of 42 female bodies at the dumping site, all murdered between 2022 and 2024.
The first victim was his wife, Imelda Judith Khalenya, whom he strangled and dismembered before disposing of her at the dump site, he said.
Investigations are still ongoing as both the suspect's house and dumping site remain active crime scenes.
