"Captain America" franchise star Chris Evans is thrilled about Marvel's recasting of a role that helped launch his superhero career.
In an interview with The New York Daily News, Evans admitted he was excited when he heard Michael B. Jordan was taking on the role of Johnny Storm, better known as the Human Torch, in the "Fantastic Four" reboot.
"It's so funny, you almost feel precious over the role that you don't want someone else to do it," Evans told the Daily News. "But when you hear someone phenomenal is doing it, it's very exciting like you almost can't wait."
Evans explained he feels a connection to Jordan because of the character they share. According to the Daily News, Evans admitted it is "nice feeling" to be linked with Jordan.
"I couldn't even give that guy any advice if I wanted, that guy is so good," Evans said. "It's exciting to see what he's going to do, because I know he's going to reinvent it in a way that I could never have imagined."
Another actor might be joining the "Fantastic Four" reboot cast. According to Variety, up-and-coming actor Toby Kebbell is slated to take on the role of Doctor Doom.
"Fox has zeroed in on newcomer Toby Kebbell to play the "Fantastic Four" team's arch nemesis Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom," Variety reports. "The role was chased by several rising stars, including Jack Huston and Domhnall Gleeson, before Fox targeted the 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' thesp."
Marvel and Fox have not confirmed Kebbell's casting the "Fantastic Four" reboot, but the actor would join Jordan (Johnny Storm), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Miles Teller (Reed Richards), and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm) if he lands the role.
The "Fantastic Four" reboot is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2015.
