The "Batman vs. Superman" production has announced "300: Rise of an Empire" star Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Holly Hunter are the latest addition to the cast.
Mulvey, Hunter and Okamoto will be play "newly created" characters for the "Man of Steel 2" production, according to a news release. "Batman vs. Superman" director Snyder released the following statement about Mulvey's casting:
"He's a fantastic actor and I'm looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I'm really excited to have her joining us on this adventure."
Snyder also commented on the addition of Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter to the cast.
"Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses; she has immense talent and is always captivating on screen," Snyder said in a statement. "I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her."
"I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on '300: Rise of an Empire' and was very impressed with his incredible talent," the director continued. "He's a fantastic actor and I'm looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I'm really excited to have her joining us on this adventure."
Okamoto is a Japanese actress who has starred in "The Wolverine," as well as "The Wolverine: The Path of a Ronin."
"Batman vs. Superman" stars Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Ben Affleck As Bruce Wayne, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
The "Man of Steel" sequel will be released to theaters on May 6, 2016.
