Lifetime recently announced that actress Tori Spelling was getting her own reality show, titled "True Tori." The series will follow Spelling and her shaky marriage to Dean McDermott. The two have been plagued with divorce rumors after reports surfaced that McDermott had cheated on his wife.
The "Santa Baby 2" actor recently completed a stint in rehab to deal with "personal issues."
In a press release from Lifetime (via Radar Online), the network states "the real story will be told as it should be, by Tori Spelling herself" and says the actress "has made the courageous decision to allow the audience to witness the most difficult and unpredictable period in her life."
The reality show is said to focus on Spelling but will also reveal whether her marriage can survive the cheating scandal. A source told Radar that McDermott was extremely hesitant on signing up but was "pressured" by Spelling to do it.
Reportedly the former "90210" actress only wants to do the show as revenge for everything McDermott put her through.
"[Dean] is far from being a willing participant. He felt extremely pressured by Tori to do the reality show," a source told Radar. "Tori told him they had to do it because their fans want to know what is going on with their marriage. Too bad Dean doesn't feel that way."
"This should be a time of reflection, introspection, healing ad figuring out what the next step is for them," the source continued. "The last thing Dean wants to deal with is production schedules and cameras. He asked Tori to wait a few months before doing the reality show, he just needs some time... but she insisted it had to be now. Reluctantly Dean agreed because he feels this is all his fault."
There were previous reports that Spelling and her family were "broke" but Radar's source insists she is not doing it for the money.
"True Tori" will premiere on Apr. 22 at 10 p.m. on Lifetime.
