Warner Bros. reportedly has plans to develop nine other DC Comics movies after the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman" and the recently announced "Justice League" films. According to the Wall Street Journal, the nine movies are already in development and include "Shazam," "100 Bullets," Fables" and "Metal Men."
The WSJ claims that a solo Wonder Woman movie is not currently being considered.
"Warner has now entrusted its core superheroes to "Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder, who will helm 'Superman Vs. Batman" and then 'Justice League.' It also has nine other movies based on DC Comics in development," WSJ wrote.
So what could the other superhero movies be? According to Comicbook.com, "The Sandman" is definitely going to make its way to movie theaters since Joseph Gordon-Levitt has already been attached.
It's not clear what the other films could be but Yahoo UK speculates that fans could see a sequel to "Man of Steel" that does not include Ben Affleck as Batman, a "Justice League" sequel and a new "Batman" trilogy. Yahoo also added that a sequel to the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman" could be possible.
The WSJ also revealed that, following "Batman vs. Superman," Snyder will direct a "Justice League" movie that includes Superman, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck. According to the newspaper, the script is already in development.
"It will be a further expansion of this universe," Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman told the newspaper. "'Superman vs. Batman' will lead into 'Justice League.'"
WSJ claims that the "Justice League" film is expected to hit theaters in 2018 but the Latino Review reports that their sources predict a May 2017 release date.
"Again, that is the rumor I am hearing. It makes sense," the Latino Review writes. "If the President of Production is officially going on the record by saying that the movie will indeed follow 'Batman Vs. Superman' then May 5, 2017 is a great date to plant a flag. Early May is now the most sought after release date."
