'Game Of Thrones' Season 4 SPOILERS: What Happens To Shae After Tyrion's Trial?

Shae, Tyrion Lannister's lover, hasn't been spotted since the first episode of "Game of Thrones" season four. However, Shae's story is far from finished.

[Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!]

Tyrion is in love with Shae, but was forced to marry Sansa Stark. Tyrion feared Shae's life was in danger with the return of his father Tywin Lannister's presence. Tyrion asked his sellsword Bronn to take her far away from King's Landing in order to protect her.

Shae didn't want to leave Tyrion's side. Tyrion was forced to lie to her, calling her a whore and telling her he didn't love her. Shae leaves with Bronn, who assures Tyrion he placed her on the ship to get away from King's Landing. Tyrion believes he has seen the last of Shae.

However, Shae didn't exactly leave King's Landing. According to A Wiki of Fire and Ice, Shae doesn't leave the King's Landing in George R.R. Martin's novels and comes back to haunt Tyrion. Shae is used to humiliate Tyrion during his trial for allegedly killing King Joffery during the Purple Wedding.

Shae is forced to lie about Tyrion's involvement with the murder, claiming he and Sansa plotted to kill the king together. After Tyrion is found guilty during the trial, he eventually escapes from his cell and heads toward his father, Lord Tywin's, chambers. Tyrion finds Shae in his father's bed and becomes enraged.

In Tyrion's fit of furry, he strangles Shae with his father's gold chain and kills Tywin. Though the show is beginning to loosely follow the "Game of Thrones" novels, the series has set up Shae to have every reason to go against Tyrion. However, it remains unclear is Shae actually loved Tyrion or if she was paid to be his one weakness all along.

"Game of Thrones" airs on HBO Sundays on 9 p.m. EST.
