Hugh Jackman narrowly escaped a horrific accident on the set of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The 45-year-old actor appeared on "The Graham Norton Sow" and said that he almost sliced off his penis with his Wolverine claws, The Mirror reports.
Jackman explained that he was filming a nude scene and was trying to cover up his private area when the almost-incident happened.
"There was a very intense first scene and I insisted on a closed set," he said. "I ran round the corner and all the female members of the crew were gathered there."
"I tried to cover myself and cut my inner thigh - it was just the inner thigh thankfully! The metal claws had to go - you can't have bits and pieces flying off," Jackman added.
His co-star Michael Fassbender also appeared on the show and said that the actor had an impressive commitment to his fitness regime. Fassbender said because Jackman is so dedicated to his training that it started to rub off on other people.
"His discipline is incredible - he is up and in the gym at 4:30 in the morning, every morning," Fassbender said. "When we arrived, there was a Jackman effect and we all started training to try and keep up."
According to The Mirror, Jackman's intense training for his role as Wolverine lasted 18 months. Recently, the Australian actor talked about playing the self-healing mutant and hinted that he might not want to reprise the character anymore.
Following "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Jackman will play Wolverine for a solo project but that could be it.
"I'm excited to see what we can come up with, but I haven't signed on signed on," he told SFX Magazine. "I'm genuinely at that point where unless it's better than the last one I'm not going to do it."
"If I did another one I'm 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me," the actor added.
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will hit theaters July 14.
