'Maleficent' Movie Trailer: Angeline Jolie Challenged Film's Screenwriter To Create Compelling Story: 'My Task Was To Live Up To Both Of Them'

With the "Maleficent" theater release slated for the end of May, Disney is rolling out the featurettes of the live-action "Sleeping Beauty" remake.

The actress continued to gush over her role in the latest teaser video, which also feature the film's screenwriter, director and Aurora herself, actress Elle Fanning.

"I loved Maleficent when I was a little girl, she was my favorite Disney character. So when I heard there might be a Maleficent movie I was very excited," Jolie said in the featurette.

"The character of Maleficent really is fantastic and you have Angelina Jolie. So, my task was to live up to both of them," Linda Woolverton explained in the teaser, which you can watch in the video below.

The film isn't a reboot of the classic tale of "Sleeping Beauty," but rather a retelling of the Disney story. It divers into the back story of Maleficent and what drove the character to become an evil villain, giving her story more depth and intrigue.

"Maleficent" officially hits theaters on May 30. Check out Disney's official film synopsis and the featurette clip below:

"'Maleficent' is the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic 'Sleeping Beauty.' A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal-an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom-and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well."
