The Standard Hotel employee who leaked the video of Solange Knowles' attack on Jay Z has reportedly been fired.
The NYC luxury hotel told The Associated Press the person was fired for "breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video." According to Page Six, the tape was allegedly sold for an upwards of $250,000 to TMZ. The hotel released the following statement to theGrio.com soon after the incident:
"We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests. We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity."
Though the tape reveals a physical confrontation between Solange and Jay Z, the parties involved have yet to comment about the incident. However, many sources continue to speculate as to why the confrontation occurred in the first place.
"Clearly she was on something at the party, she was drunk and out of it. The girl is crazy and prone to outbursts," a source told Page Six. She got in the elevator with Jay and Bey. He had made a comment that she didn't like, and she just snapped."
Another Page Six source added, "She was the girl who drank too much and was behaving badly at the party."
However, sources to Us Weekly Solange attacked the rapper in defense of her sister after a verbal confrontation with designer Rachel Roy during the Met Gala afterparty.
"Solange was yelling that anyone who gets close to Jay has to be warned and deal with her as a sister," the source said.
"Jay said something small to her along the lines of, 'You are out of line,'" another US Weekly insider added. "Solange was being a loudmouth and snapped at Jay trying to calm her down and get her out of there."
