Beyoncé and Jay Z were noticeably absent from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding on May 24 in Florence, Italy. A source told E! News that the couple was invited but decided to skip because of the elevator fight earlier this month involving Solange.
On May 12 a video surfaced of Solange physically attacking the "Magna Carta" rapper. It was reported that the fight started after designer Rachel Roy was caught flirting with Jay Z at a Met Gala after party. Since Roy and Kardashian are close friends, the designer was a guest at the wedding.
"Given Kim and Kanye's list of celeb friends, surprisingly, they didn't invite that many," a source told E!. "They wanted it to be a small and intimate wedding. Jay Z and Beyoncé were invited but didn't come, seemingly to avoid drama from Rachel Roy who was going. In the end, the wedding was full of love and super intimate."
Even though the two didn't show up, the "Drunk in Love" singer sent Kardashian and West a message on Instagram, writing, "Wishing you a lifetime of unconditional love. God bless your beautiful family."
The source also said that the "entire wedding felt very normal" and was "un-Hollywood."
"It might appear like it was something over the top, but it was very much focused on the important things that matter most," the source added.
Bey and Jay weren't the only ones who didn't show. Kardashian's brother, Rob, also bailed on the ceremony. He jetted out to Paris with the family to enjoy some pre-wedding festivities but left and came back to Los Angeles before his sister and West exchanged vows.
It was rumored that Rob and Kim had gotten into an argument but a source told E! that wasn't true.
"Kim and Rob did not fight," the source said. "He wanted to be there, but he was feeling so insecure and didn't want anyone to see him heavier like this. Kim and Kanye completely understand. They love Rob and only want him to be healthy and happy."
