Chelsea Handler will end her seven-year run as the E! network's late-night show host in August. Handler released a statement formally announcing the end of "Chelsea Lately" on Aug. 26.
"I myself am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years," Handler said. "I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I'm glad I went."
The E! network also released a statement regard Handler's departure for he late night show.
"We are very proud of 'Chelsea Lately's' long-running success and the unique space that the series carved out in late night television," said E! president Suzanne Kolb in a news release. "Chelsea brought a distinct voice to late night with her acerbic wit and fearless commentary and we look forward to providing fans with a memorable send-off that lives up to that tradition."
Handler's departure from E! doesn't come as a surprise. Handler's manager Irving Azoff told The Hollywood Reporter the comedian wasn't happy at the network and was looking elsewhere to take her talents and ideas.
"Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas," Azoff told THR.
Handler herself also expressed her discontent with the network during an interview with Howard Stern. She called the network a "sad place" with "no ideas." THR reported handler made $9 million a year to host the late night show. Handler is currently the only woman hosting a late night show.
"Azoff says his research shows Handler's performance is stronger than those figures suggest. Despite shrinking overall viewership at E!, his numbers show that Chelsea Lately consistently has built on its lead-in and that this year, her show is averaging a 67 percent increase in viewers over that lead-in, the largest build in the show's eight-year run," THR reported back in March.
