'Batman vs. Superman' Movie Update: Emily Blunt Up For An 'Unknown' Role In Zack Snyder's Production? (RUMOR)

Emily Blunt is the latest actress who could be up for a role in the upcoming "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" production.

According to El Multicine (via ComicBookMovie.com), Blunt is allegedly up for an undisclosed role. Blunt reportedly passed on the role of Black Widow in the "Avengers" and "Captain America" films.

"The actress Emily Blunt will land on billboards worldwide with her film 'Edge of Tomorrow', in what appears to be a great science fiction role. Now her name returns to the orbit of comic adaptations with her possible incorporation in 'Batman vs. Superman', directed by Zack Snyder. A film that has been shooting since last month," El Multicine reports.

"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released to theaters on May 6, 2016.

Not much is known about the Warner Bros. production, but filmmaker Kevin Smith recently gave his thoughts on the "Man of Steel" sequel during a "Hollywood Babble-On" podcast.

"But look, they're obviously beginning something, and there's a stretch of these flick, and so this is the beginning of the Justice League, as we all suspected as they were announcing that cast," Smith said during the podcast. "We were like, 'This is the beginning of a Justice League movie.' From what I understand now, it's no longer like, 'This is Superman 2.'"

"They're not doing these things," he added. "They're doing like, 'Here's Man of Steel. Here's Batman/Superman: Dawn of Justice.' The next one is not like a sequel to one of the characters. They're just going to keep building their universe for about five or six movies. But all of them...it's supposed to tell one massive story, which is all Justice League."
