Rawson Thurber has allegedly past on becoming the director of Marvel's "Ant-Man" production.
Thurber would be the second director who passed on the film after Edgar Wright quit the project. Director Adam McKay was reportedly offered the job before Thurber, but turned down the offer, according to ThisIsInfamous.com.
"Earlier today, we scooped that Rawson Thurber had been offered the job in the hopes of settling down the movie's rocky road to production and getting things back on pace to hit that July 2015 release date Marvel is still dead set on," ThisIsInfamous reports. "Unfortunately, the ANT-MAN nightmare for Marvel continues, as sources tell us Thurber has indeed passed on the film, sending the studio right back to the drawing board to find someone actually willing to touch this movie with a 10-foot pole."
According to multiple reports, the production was set to begin filming early summer 2014. "Ant-Man" is slated to hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Wright's exit from the production came as a shocker to many, but trouble was brewing behind-the-scenes for a while, according to The Latino Review.
"Six weeks ago Marvel took the script off them and gave the writing assignment to two very low credit writers. One of the writers were from Marvel's in house writing team. Edgar stayed cool, agreed to stay on the project, and read the draft," according to The Latino Review. "The script came in this week and was completely undone. Poorer, homogenized, and not Edgar's vision. Edgar met with Marvel on Friday to formally exit and the announcement went out directly after."
Wright confirmed he left the production due to creative differences, but did not specify details about their "differences." Though the production has no director, the lead actors Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly are still onboard for the film.
