'Ant-Man' Movie: Peyton Reed To Direct Marvel's Upcoming Production, Replacing Edgar Wright After Sudden Exit

Peyton Reed will be replacing Edgar Wright as the director for Marvel's upcoming "Ant-Man" live-action film.

Reed will be teaming up with writer Adam McKay, who penned the film's script with Wright. According to The Latino Review, insider sources claimed Wright left the production after rewrites caused tensions in the production.

"Six weeks ago Marvel took the script off them and gave the writing assignment to two very low credit writers. One of the writers were from Marvel's in house writing team. Edgar stayed cool, agreed to stay on the project, and read the draft," The Latino Review reports. "The script came in this week and was completely undone. Poorer, homogenized, and not Edgar's vision. Edgar met with Marvel on Friday to formally exit and the announcement went out directly after."

However, Marvel has yet to comment about the director's sudden departure and Wright has kept quiet about any possible creative differences. Source told the Latino Review the director was upset over Marvel's "lack of faith" in his creative vision caused him to quit the production.

Wright may have left the "Ant-Man" production, but stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly are still on board. You can check out the film's official synopsis below:

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

"Ant-Man" will be release to theaters on July 17, 2015.
