"Assassin's Creed: Unity" claims to redefine the familiar as the newest installment in Ubisoft's franchise.
According to Ubisoft's official blog, there are "key changes" fans can expect in "Unity." First is the obvious, there will be a new "hero" called Arno. Second is the setting as the new title takes place during the French Revolution in Paris, France.
"Paris itself is an important part of that; not only does it look beautiful, but it's designed to be the series' most realistic setting to date. The crowds are bigger and thicker than ever (with up to 5,000 characters displayable on screen at once), making them an excellent hiding spot, particularly for four players," Ubisoft said in the blog.
"Famous buildings are 1:1 re-creations of the real thing, and they're now modeled with seamless interiors, meaning you can enter through any open door or window and explore."
Another change in the franchise comes into play through the animations. Assassins can now run up walls and start climbing, and don't need a haystack to find their way done to the ground. However, the Leap of Faith is included into limited haystacks throughout the title.
Ubisoft has also unveiled their new co-op mode for four-player gameplay. Gamers won't have to participate in the co-op mode to progress in the story, but provides gamers with a new way to interact with friends.
"Wandering into a tavern, for example, you might meet an Assassin Brotherhood operative who offers co-op missions, and he'll even tell you which of your friends are online and potentially ready to join," Ubisoft said in the blog. "But while co-op can open up new side stories and missions (or just present a fun way to explore the open world of Paris), it's not necessary to finishing the campaign, if you really just want to play solo."
