’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Trailer Gets July Release Date, E.L. James Says It ‘Aims to Please’

Finally the trailer for "Fifty Shades of Grey" has a release date and fans won't have to wait until September, as previously thought. E.L. James announced via Twitter on July 9 that fans will get their first glimpse of the sexy Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and the shy Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) later this month!

"Hold on to your hats folks. You'll get your first look at the FSoG movie trailer on July 24. I've had a sneak peek and WOW! #WeAimToPlease," James tweeted.

It's not clear if the entire trailer will be released or if it's only going to be a short preview, but still anything is better than nothing, don't you think?

Footage for the film was initially released in March at the Las Vegas Comic-Con and received some pretty harsh reviews. Apparently, a lot of critics felt the clip shown did not live up to the book's expectation and focused more on the romance between Christian and Ana instead of the kinky sex.

"Based on the roughly five minutes of footage Universal unveiled, the movie seemed far more tame than the steamy, S&M-heavy book it's based on," the Los Angeles Times wrote. "Though Anastasia was blindfolded, as well as being pushed up against a wall by Christian, the teaser featured very little sex."

Thankfully, "FSoG" fans won't have to wait long to see the movie trailer and decide for themselves if it's steamy enough. Since filming wrapped back in February, there has been very little news about the highly-anticipated movie.

Recently, E! News caught up with actress Eloise Mumford (who plays Ana's best friend Kate Kavanagh) and grilled her on what fans can expect when "Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters next year.

"I knew right away it would be tasteful and artistic," Mumford said. "And the cinematographer is Seamus McGarvey. He did 'Anna Karenina.' It's going to be beautiful."

"In the end, the story is really a romance and a love story so it's about that more than anything," she added.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015 and the trailer will be released July 24.
