Last year, pop star Justin Bieber surprised then-girlfriend Selena Gomez on her 21st birthday by showing up to her lavish party. This year, Bieber didn't utter a single word on social media about the "Slow Down" singer's 22nd birthday but from the looks of it, Gomez didn't seem to care.
The former Disney star celebrated her special day in Saint Tropez, France with new pal Cara Delevingne, a mystery man and other friends. Gomez was spotted getting cozy with this new guy on a jet ski and even shared a towel with him on a yacht, the Daily News reports.
It's not clear who this mystery guy could be but the entire group looked like they were enjoying the beautiful weather in France. Gomez's BFF Taylor Swift wished the "Come & Get It" singer a happy birthday on Instagram writing, "Usually this S represents 'Swift' but today I'm wearing it because SELENA IS 22!!!!," Swift wrote on Instagram including a picture of her holding up a gold 'S' necklace.
It was previously rumored that Bieber didn't want to help Gomez celebrate her birthday and instead wanted to spend the day hanging out with his friends and going paintballing.
"They are not doing well right now," a source told Hollywood Life adding that Gomez never received an invite to go paintballing with Bieber.
The on-again, off-again couple split in June after getting into an argument about Scooter Braun's wedding. Reportedly Bieber did not invite Gomez because he thought it would attract to much media attention and take away from the manager's special day with his bride.
"Scooter made it clear that he just wanted Justin as that would allow the focus to be on their special day and not what Justin and Selena were doing," a source told Hollywood Life. "Justin obeyed Scooter's wishes which in turn got Selena upset and that got the ball rolling for them to fight and break up and not hang out during the 4th [of July weekend]. It all spiraled from there."
